The Borders is the part of Scotland closest to England. While it does not have the high mountains and Lochs of the Highlands of Scotland, it is a beautiful and sparsely-populated area, close to many areas of interest to visitors. For some examples, follow the links at the bottom of the page.
KELSO
Kelso is a market town with all the amenities you'd expect, including pubs, supermarkets, food shops, tourist office, hotels and garages. In fact, everything you'll need to make your stay enjoyable.

FLOORS CASTLE
Floors Castle is Scotland's largest inhabited castle. It is within easy walking distance from the centre of Kelso. In fact, the last house in the town is just yards away from the impressive gate that was the main entrance for the world meeting.
The camping ground was very large, flat and well-drained and there were also extra overflow fields available, although they weren't needed.
Camping was on the banks of the River Tweed, just opposite the ruins of what was once the capital of Scotland.
Floors Castle is set on raised ground overlooking the camping ground and made an impressive backdrop for the meeting. It has a large restaurant and also a partially-covered mews which housed the permanent museum. |
