As anyone who has ridden in France will tell you, the country has almost been designed for two-wheeled transport. Cycling is a passion almost everyone indulges in and most children have a moped (which they can ride from aged 14), so the majority of adult motorists have more awareness of two-wheeled vehicles than in the UK.
France's roads are some of the most uncluttered in Europe. The country is roughly twice the size of the UK, yet with a population roughly the same. The result is good roads, with much less traffic. Lorries are also often required to use the autoroutes, so the main roads can be traffic-free and the back roads are a dream.
Add into this mix the fact that Normandy has some great scenery, interesting towns and lots of historical sites and you have a wonderful place for motorcycling.
