Parked up for breakfast in Honfleur
Autumn in Normandy can be a wonderful time. Often it's warm and sunny and with the forests and hedgerows changing colour, it can be very pretty.
This year a group of us on motorcycles spent a delightful long weekend exploring the area to the south of Cormolain, including a return to the bungee jumping. Taking the most direct route from there to Swiss Normandy we discovered some fantastic small lanes twisting and winding through deserted valleys and sleepy villages. As with most of France's back roads the tarmac was smooth and predictable - a delight on a bike!
Away from the tarmac we spent time exploring the local offroad trails. In places they were quite muddy, but we saw no rain at all while we were in Calvados. In fact, the weather was exceptionally warm. Every time we stopped to admire the view, motorcycle jackets were hurriedly unzipped or thrown off before we got too hot. As we pulled into Le Havre at 4pm to catch the ferry back to Portsmouth the temperature was 28 degrees C!
